Teaching & mentorship

Training the next generation

At Auburn since 2010, I’ve developed six new graduate courses in MRI, signal processing, and machine learning—and supervised 7 PhD and 12 MS students as major professor, plus 11 PhD and 3 MS as committee member. A current cohort of two PhD students works on high-resolution fMRI and AI-driven neuroimaging.

Beyond the classroom

Undergraduate research

Mentored 35+ undergraduate students from Biomedical Sciences, ECE, Software Engineering, Psychology, Communication Disorders, and Pre-medicine on research projects in fMRI signal processing and AI/ML.

Recipients of the President’s Undergraduate Research Fellowship and AU summer scholarships under my mentorship.

Grant mentorship

Mentored junior researchers on individual fellowship grants—NIH F31, F32, K01, K99/R00—with co-mentors at UAB, AU, and UNC Charlotte.

9 successful fellowship awards across NIH NRSA, K01, K99 grants, 2013–2024.
